AVNET (AVT): A THREE-PILLAR VIEW OF A QUIET TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE STORY

Avnet is not a headline AI company, but it sits deep inside the infrastructure that makes the digital economy possible. The company distributes semiconductors, electronic components, embedded systems and related technologies across industrial, automotive, communications, aerospace and other markets. In fiscal 2026, Avnet generated approximately $27.6 billion in revenue, up 24.5% year over year, with the large majority of sales coming from its Electronic Components business.

AVNET (AVT) — DAILY PRICE STRUCTURE TESTING A MAJOR HIGH

PILLAR 1 — PRICE STRUCTURE

The chart is what first makes AVT interesting.

After spending much of 2025 in a broad base, the stock shifted into a clear advancing structure during 2026. The move was not a single earnings spike. Price progressively established higher highs and higher lows, with corrections repeatedly being absorbed before the advance resumed.

Now the stock is testing an important previous high area.

That is the point where I become more interested, not less.

A strong trend reaching resistance does not automatically imply another leg higher. The market still has to prove that buyers are willing to accept price above the previous supply zone. A sustained breakout would represent a new structural development. Rejection would indicate that more consolidation may be required.

Volume also deserves attention. Several important advances were accompanied by stronger turnover, while OBV has been strengthening into the latest test.

The technical question is therefore straightforward:

Can AVT turn a previous ceiling into a new area of acceptance?

PILLAR 2 — THE ECONOMIC PERIOD

The fundamental backdrop helps explain why the chart has changed.

Avnet is essentially part of the plumbing of the electronics economy. Its customers need semiconductors, connectors, passive components, embedded computing and related products to manufacture everything from industrial systems to connected equipment.

Fiscal 2026 showed a significant improvement in demand. Sales rose sharply across the company, including both the Electronic Components business and Farnell.

That matters because the current technology cycle extends beyond the companies designing AI processors.

AI infrastructure requires servers.

Servers require semiconductors, power components and connectivity.

Data centers require enormous electronic ecosystems.

Factories continue to automate.

Vehicles continue to incorporate more electronics.

Industrial equipment continues to become more connected.

Avnet participates in many of these supply chains without depending on one particular AI platform becoming the winner.

There is, however, an important counterweight.

Avnet is a distributor, not a high-margin chip designer. Its business depends heavily on volume, inventory management, product mix, working capital and operating efficiency.

So the economic thesis is not simply:

“Semiconductor demand rises, therefore Avnet profits explode.”

The more relevant question is whether strong sales growth can continue to translate into stronger operating performance while margins remain controlled.

That is the fundamental confirmation I would want to see alongside the price structure.

PILLAR 3 — RISK BEFORE CONVICTION

A strong company, a supportive economic period and a constructive chart still do not eliminate risk.

At this stage AVT is testing an important area after a substantial advance. That changes the risk profile compared with buying during the earlier base.

The market can break through.

It can also fail.

For that reason, the important decision is not predicting which outcome must occur. It is defining in advance what price behavior would confirm the thesis and what behavior would invalidate it.

A trader can be correct about the semiconductor cycle and still enter at the wrong point.

An investor can be correct about Avnet’s business and still underestimate volatility.

And a technically strong breakout can still fail.

This is why position size, timeframe and invalidation matter as much as the underlying story.

Avnet currently presents an interesting combination:

Improving business momentum.
Exposure to a broad electronics cycle.
A price structure testing an important high.

The next information will come from whether those three elements continue to reinforce one another.

The company does not need to become the next famous AI stock to remain relevant.

Sometimes the more interesting businesses are the ones supplying the components that everyone else needs.
